I’ve had “Nobody’s Heart Belongs To Me/Why Can’t I” on repeat for weeks. Tonight I tweeted a lyric from the song & Cheno decided to finish it. I know this is the second time she’s tweeted me, but I’m shaking & crying. She’s such a big inspiration & she’s where my Broadway obsession started. Therefore, I will sob every time she decides to tweet me.
Kristi Dawn FLAPJACKIN’ Chenoweth, I love you. Seriously.

Dearest Kristi Dawn Chenoweth,
You. Changed. My. Life.
Well, actually, it was you, my cruddy iPod touch, and Mrs. Rose who did it, but, it’s your birthday. Let’s go back, shall we?
It was my last year of elementary school and I was in the pod of the 500 building with Sofia, Mrs. Rose and Mrs. Chapman getting something for I don’t remember. We were all talking and sometime during the talking, Mrs. Rose said, “I think you’d like Wicked.”
And I responded, “I don’t know.”
Now, let’s go to October of that year on the day or week after my birthday. My iPod touch was being an asshole again and it was like 12AM and I was awake with nothing to do. I was on YouTube and I remembered that time when I was talking to Mrs. Rose, Mrs. Chapman and Sofia. So, I typed in “Wicked Part 1”.
The only video that showed up in my YouTube search was a video called: “Wicked: The Road To Broadway (Part 1 of 2)” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi-p7anJCmM&feature=youtube_gdata_player). I clicked on the video and I watched. I smiled when a little blonde woman was on my screen. “Hey! That’s the lady from Bewitched! The neighbor!” I cheered silently to the darkness of my room.
And that’s how it began.
That is mainly how my Broadway, Kathy Griffin & (sort of) my television obsessions began. Just seeing you in one little video. I’m not kidding.
Let me give you some examples:
You led me to Idina Menzel and Norbert Leo Butz. Idina led me to Taye Diggs, RENT, and Tracie Thoms & Norbert led me to Sherie Rene Scott and The Last 5 Years. Taye Diggs (and Kathe Walsh & Audra) led me to Private Practice. RENT led me to Rosario Dawson. Tracie Thoms tweeted me ‘Happy Birthday’. Sherie Rene Scott (and La LuPone & Benanti) led me to Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown.
You led me to Candide which led me to Patti LuPone, Janine LaManna, and Jeff Blumenkrantz. La LuPone led me to Laura Benanti. Benanti led me to Susan Blackwell. Susan Blackwell led me to Sutton Foster. Sutton Foster led me to Bunheads.
I was on YouTube watching videos of you & one of the recommended videos led me to Kathy Griffin. Kathy Griffin led me to Cher, Tiffany Rinehart, Maggie Griffin, D-List, and all of her specials. All of that led me to buy Maggie & Kathy’s books. Maggie & Kathy’s books led me to watch more D-List. D-List led me to watching Kathy. Kathy led me to watch an episode or two of Don’t Be Tardy For The Wedding and made me respect Chelsea Handler even more.
You get the picture, right? Good.
Another thing that got me is that you’re Christian. You are a Christian in the theatre. In a world of superstition, stress, and constant disbelief you haven’t let anyone get in the way of your faith. You are a mighty woman of God and, one day, I’d like to be the same: a mighty woman of God that can stand strong amongst a crowd of disbelievers.
You taught me things I’ll never forget. You taught me to try. You taught me to fight for love. You taught me to embrace who I am. You taught me that, with all of my physical traits aside, I can still do great things. You taught me that I’ve got some things to overcome in my future. You showed me one of best examples of being a light unto the world.
I know you’re not perfect. I know you’re not all good. Despite all of that, I truly believe you have changed my life for the better and for good (harhar). So, thank you.
With Love,
Dulce
